This statue of a submissive bird depicts a tall bird which, true to its title, bends its head with humility, modesty and self-effacement, thereby evoking a sense of compassion in those who view it and a desire to protect it. The five hoes from Africa represent the wings on the bird's back, the wooden handles depict the feathers on the bird's chest and the pointed beak is made with a rusty plough.
