This bed originates from the Ivory Coast, which belonged to a local tribe called "Senufo" living in South Senegal and the neighboring countries. The bed is carved out of a single piece of wood. Its ascetic form, which is the essence of its charm, proves that it is possible to subsist with simple means that are not pretentious. The raised area of the bed serves as a "pillow" in order to give the birthing mother a certain degree of comfort.
