Flamingos
Ilana Goor
Date 2001 | Technique Bronze | Height | Location Florida
When Ilana Goor was asked to sculpt permanent sculptures for the “Carnival Cruise” fleet of ships at its main anchorage in Miami, she decided to depict the national bird of Florida – the flamingo. A large and impressive bird sculpted in bronze spreads its wings and it is almost as though at any moment it may suddenly take fight. This sculpture can be linked back to Goor’s involvement with fowl and birds which are representations of absolute freedom which also characterize the artist herself and her work
